The Presidency has appealed to the public to stop speculating about former President Jacob Zuma’s health, saying his medical information must remain confidential.
Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni told a media briefing in Pretoria on Sunday that President Cyril Ramaphosa had tasked the Surgeon General with overseeing Zuma’s medical care.
Ntshavheni said information about Zuma’s condition could only be shared by his doctors with his consent. She added that being a former head of state did not remove his right to medical privacy.
The Presidency has urged the public to respect the process and leave updates on Zuma’s health to his medical team and family.
