Learners from River-Rus High School, Rusoord Secondary School and General Smuts High School took part in the Gauteng National Senior Certificate Pledge Signing Ceremony, where they lit candles and read the pledge as a sign of their commitment to writing their examinations with integrity.

Gauteng Education MEC Lebogang Maile highlighted the importance of matric as a gateway to further education, skills development and economic opportunities. He said education remains one of the most important tools for expanding opportunities, promoting social mobility and building a more equal society.

Maile also praised the resilience of the Class of 2026, whose schooling journey was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. He stressed that academic success must go hand in hand with honesty, integrity and ethical conduct.

As the countdown to the final examinations continues, the pledge serves as a reminder to learners that success is most meaningful when earned through hard work and honesty.
