National Coloured Congress (NCC) leader and Member of Parliament Fadiel Adams has opened a criminal case against Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) investigator Dylan Perumal, accusing him of defeating the ends of justice. The case, registered as CAS 257/7/2026 at the Wellington police station, stems from allegations that Perumal improperly shared sensitive information from the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry with his colleague Brian Padayachee and deliberately misled former IDAC head Advocate Andrea Johnson.
Adams, who has been a vocal critic of the IDAC’s handling of corruption investigations, claims that Perumal’s actions compromised the integrity of the commission’s work and undermined the legal process. The complaint arises against the backdrop of the Madlanga Commission’s intensified scrutiny of the IDAC’s expanded investigation into corruption within Crime Intelligence—an inquiry that originally drew its impetus from complaints lodged by Adams in 2024 but has since evolved far beyond his initial submissions.
The NCC leader has expressed his desire to testify before the commission, insisting that his version of events must be heard. He has also indicated that he will file a formal misconduct complaint against Perumal with the IDAC’s newly appointed oversight judge, urging a thorough investigation into what he describes as a “pattern of deception” within the directorate.
However, the move has attracted mixed reactions on social media, with some observers suggesting that Adams’ legal offensive may be an attempt to deflect attention from his own ongoing legal entanglements. Adams, who has faced previous legal challenges and a criminal record in the past, has dismissed such speculation as a smear campaign. “I am not the one on trial here,” Adams said outside the police station. “The people need to know that those entrusted with fighting corruption are themselves corrupt.” The IDAC has yet to issue an official response to the charges.
