The Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) has urged South Africans whose identity documents (IDs) have been blocked to visit any Department of Home Affairs office before Friday, 10 July 2026, to avoid the possible permanent cancellation of their IDs.
According to the notice, affected individuals must visit a Department of Home Affairs office in person to submit written or oral representations, together with all relevant supporting documents.
The deadline for submitting representations is Friday, 10 July 2026.
GCIS has encouraged affected individuals to act before the deadline to avoid the possible permanent cancellation of their blocked identity documents.
