Parents and guardians in Gauteng are being urged to start preparing the necessary documents for the 2027 Grade 1 and Grade 8 online admissions process, with the Gauteng Department of Education confirming that the application period will be announced soon.
Gauteng MEC for Education, Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Lebogang Maile, assured parents that details of the 2027 online admissions process will be communicated shortly.
“The application period for Grade 1 and Grade 8 will be announced soon, and we encourage parents and guardians to use this time to prepare the required supporting documents,” the MEC said.
The department has also reminded parents that Grade R applications are not processed online. Instead, parents and guardians must submit Grade R applications directly at their preferred schools.
In the meantime, parents are encouraged to ensure they have all the required supporting documents ready. These include the parent or guardian’s South African ID or passport, the learner’s birth certificate or passport, proof of home address, proof of work address where applicable, and relevant school or health records. Grade 8 applicants will need their most recent Grade 7 report, while Grade 1 applicants must provide the learner’s clinic card or immunisation report.
The Gauteng Department of Education says preparing these documents in advance will help ensure a smoother application process once the official opening date for the 2027 online admissions is announced.
