The newly acquired fleet is both diverse and robust, comprising a Nissan UD 40 Fire Truck, an Iveco Euro Cargo Fire Truck, and an Isuzu Fire Truck. Each vehicle is specially equipped to navigate the district’s varied terrain, from dense urban settlements to sprawling rural farms and industrial zones. Officials believe the trucks will drastically reduce the municipality’s reliance on aging, often broken-down equipment that has historically left communities vulnerable to runaway veldfires, structural blazes, and hazardous chemical incidents.
DA provincial spokesperson for Cooperative Governance, who attended the handover ceremony, described the donation as “a long-overdue lifeline” for local firefighters who have risked their lives with inadequate tools for far too long.
