TMPD intensifies speed enforcement across Tshwane

The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) has intensified speed enforcement operations across the City of Tshwane to improve road safety and reduce speeding-related crashes.

The department’s Speed Control Unit is monitoring vehicle speeds in school zones, residential areas and along major highways, with a strong focus on protecting vulnerable road users such as pedestrians.

TMPD officers are using advanced mobile laser speed detection equipment to identify motorists who exceed the speed limit. Drivers caught speeding may receive administrative notices and face action in terms of the National Road Traffic Act.

The department has urged all motorists to obey speed limits, warning that excessive speeding increases the risk of serious collisions and reduces drivers’ reaction time. TMPD says the ongoing operations form part of its commitment to making Tshwane’s roads safer for everyone.
