Motorists travelling through the Pretoria CBD are advised to expect traffic disruptions on Thursday, 6 August, and Friday, 7 August 2026, as a dry run is conducted ahead of the National Women’s Day celebrations.
The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) said the rehearsal will begin at 07:00, with participants gathering on Madiba Street next to Tshwane House before proceeding to the Union Buildings. The parade route will follow Sisulu Street, turn onto Stanza Bopape Street and continue to the Union Buildings, where the event is expected to conclude at around 12:00.
Roads that will be affected include Madiba Street, Sisulu Street, Stanza Bopape Street, Du Toit Street, Nelson Mandela Drive, Steve Biko Road, Hamilton Street and Leyds Street.
Motorists are encouraged to make use of alternative routes, including Pretorius Street, Francis Baard Street, Struben Street, Lilian Ngoyi Street and Johannes Ramokhoase Street, to avoid delays.
TMPD said both Metro Police and South African Police Service (SAPS) officers will be deployed along the parade route and surrounding areas to manage traffic and ensure the safety of participants and road users.
Residents and commuters are urged to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra travelling time during the rehearsal period.
