The State has made startling allegations against self-proclaimed political fixer Brown Mogotsi, claiming he planned to escape from the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court cells during his appearance on August 20.
The allegations were made as Mogotsi appeared for his fourth bail application. His legal team argued that the latest application was based on new information, including two additional addresses.
According to the investigating officer’s affidavit, Mogotsi allegedly intended to disguise himself in a Correctional Services uniform before attempting to flee from the court cells.
Mogotsi is facing charges of defeating the ends of justice in connection with an alleged staged assassination attempt. He reportedly shot at his own vehicle in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg, in November 2025.
The State is opposing his latest bail application, with the alleged escape plan forming part of its arguments against his release.
