Residents supplied by the Themba Water Treatment Plant are expected to experience a 12-hour water supply interruption on Saturday, 11 July 2026, as the City of Tshwane carries out essential maintenance on transformers at the facility.
According to the City, electricity to the Themba Water Treatment Plant will be shut down from 06:00 until 18:00. Since the plant relies on electricity to pump water, operations will be temporarily suspended, resulting in water supply disruptions to several communities.
The affected areas include Sekampaneng, Renstown, Hammanskraal West, Unit 5 and 7, Unit D, Kanana, Leboneng, Rockville and Chris Hani.
The City of Tshwane says the planned maintenance is necessary to ensure the continued reliability of the water treatment infrastructure and has apologised for the inconvenience.
Residents are urged to use water sparingly during the interruption by avoiding the use of hosepipes or sprinkler systems, refraining from washing vehicles with hosepipes or filling swimming pools, using grey water where possible for gardens and toilet flushing, and reporting water leaks, burst pipes or other incidents of water wastage.
