The National Informal Traders Alliance of South Africa (NITASA) is calling for greater government support and better trading conditions for informal traders across the country.
The organisation says informal traders face challenges including limited trading spaces, complicated permit systems and inadequate infrastructure. NITASA General Secretary, Mampapatla Madikoto says traders want to be treated fairly and given opportunities to operate safely and legally.
“Our members are not asking for special treatment. They are asking for fair treatment, proper support and a chance to trade legally and safely,” said Mampapatla.
NITASA says stronger cooperation between government and informal traders is needed to create an environment where small businesses can grow and contribute to the economy.
