Gagasi FM, the heartbeat of the province and proudly known as “The Sound of KZN,” has announced a mid-season shake-up that promises to recalibrate its two biggest shows while keeping listeners firmly at the centre of the action.
The most eye-catching move sees the award-winning Selby “Selbeyonce” Mkhize step into the breakfast spotlight. He will officially join the charismatic Felix Hlophe as co-host of the Gagasi FM Breakfast, taking over the critical 06h00 to 09h00 slot that sets the tone for millions of mornings across the province. For Selbeyonce, whose career has been on a steady upward trajectory, the transition feels like a natural homecoming—especially given the overwhelming listener praise he received whenever he filled in on the breakfast show. Together with Felix, he is expected to deliver a potent blend of humour, wit, and high-energy banter that will make weekday mornings anything but ordinary.
On the flip side, Minnie Ntuli is trading the early alarm for the afternoon drive. She moves to The Gagasi Fast Lane, joining Sphectacular and DJ Naves from 15h00 to 18h00. The shift is deeply personal: Minnie is embracing a new chapter as a new mother, and the change allows her to strike a healthier balance between her demanding career and her growing family. Her vibrant, magnetic personality is set to perfectly complement the high-octane energy of the afternoon crew.
Adding further spice, social media content creator Ashay Sewlal has been brought on board to lead the Maskandi Double Play feature on Umsindo Takeover, airing Saturdays from 16h00 to 19h00. He will work alongside presenters Mkay Music and Sphokuhle Luthuli, enhancing the show’s content moments. With these changes, Gagasi FM is clearly tuning its frequency to the evolving rhythms of its audience and its talent.
