Cabinet has assured South Africans that the country will always remain a welcoming home for its citizens, regardless of their political beliefs. The statement comes after reports that some white South Africans who relocated to the United States on claims of a so-called white genocide have allegedly experienced visa-related difficulties.
Government stressed that every South African has the right to live in the country without fear of political persecution, with constitutional rights and freedoms applying equally to all citizens.
Cabinet also recognised that South Africa continues to face economic and social challenges that impact people across all communities. It said overcoming these issues requires cooperation between government, political parties, business, organised labour, civil society and the public, while acknowledging the lasting impact of apartheid and the importance of addressing past inequalities.
Cabinet called on South Africans to stand together in rejecting efforts to create racial division and instead remain committed to building a united, inclusive and prosperous nation.
